    You Are A: Bear Cub!

bear cubBears are strong and independent creatures who roam in the forest in search of food. Bears are usually gentle, but anger one and be prepared for their full fury! You're tough, you won't back down from a fight, you have a bit of a temper -- classic attributes of a bear. Intelligent and resourceful, though lazy at times, you are a fascinating creature of the wild.

Life here is good, other than the price og gas but we're only $2.99 here so I really can't complain (given the rest of the country). I'm excited to go to Dayton next week for Festival but it is scary to close the dojo for a few days--I guess I have to trust in its resiliency. Not much new to share--life is crazy busy but how much can I really say about having 2 homes on the market, and risking all my personal wealth on opening my own business. It's just crazy :-)

    Hi everybody,

I'm at work and listening to the Fire DVD but I thought I'd post because it has been quite awhile. Not much to talk about tho. K is in California so I mostly read and eat fruit and potato chips--not really fascinating I know. I am really happy with the way that the dojo is going. We get lots of interest and walkins. People really seem to enjoy what we do. I really love being here :-)

I also found a house that I love--at least from the pictures. I would probably want to make some changes but we could afford to if the Curie house sells.

    Hugs all!

    Hi everybody,

Life here is great. We are having an open house at the dojo on August 27, so if you are in Boulder, you should come and bring your friends. 10-am-2pm Saturday August 27. Lots of fun!!!

Thank goodness for lj--I don't know how I'd know what was happening in everyone's world without it. We had a relaxing Sunday--Rio Grande for lunch, chips and romance novel for a snack and then some chicken w/ rice for dinner. We are selling our Boulder house in order to move into a smaller place. Now that the dojo, meditation room, and office are heere, we need less space at home. Plus a smaller mortgage can't hurt. And we lowered the price on the NC house--it's a gorgeous location if there are any buyers out there! It's hard not to dewell on the irony that I'm moving in to a smaller place and supporting my mom, who refuses to move into a smaller place. Not really fair, but not shocking either.

Week 2 of the Boulder Quest Center. I feel like I'm settling in, things are getting more organized and we're developing work patterns. I also get to eat A LOT! And I'm still losing weight. I'll have to be careful but it's nice to not have to watch every bite. I have set up a running schedule for M, Th, and Sat. That means on Th I'll teach 2 cardio classes and run in the evening. I also need to start hitting the gym in the am so that I can lift weights. I really love lifting which is suprising cuz I didn't used to like it. But now it makes me feel really strong and connected to my body. I am also finishing up my Reiki Master's course and starting my ACE group fitness instructor certification. I have decided to take this semster off from Naropa--too much money, too little time. I may decided to apprentice with a Vision Quest school, however, as this has become a strong interest of mine. We also had the house cleaners in today and the house looks so much better. Every month we think, do we really need this and every month we think, shit yeah!

    Hi everybody,

We are so busy but so excited that the opening of the dojo is going so well. We have walk-ins every day and lots of people who are interested. Of course, we need more signups but things are looking strong right now. If you are in Boulder or know folks in Boulder, tell them to check us out! Artemis is adjusting to the dojo, finally. She was a little confused a tfirst. I think she thought we were moving and was not having any of that. Thank goodness she's an adaptable dog because we certainly do a lot.

I'm considering getting either TiVO or DVR--anyone have opinions on what's better? Veronica Mars is moving to Weds nights and I have black belt trianing then--I can't miss that. And I think Medium is the same night--I hope not at the same time--can you record 2 shows at once? Does it cost more? I know I could look it up but if you already know, that's cool.

Also, I taught my first cardio class witha student. It was great. I love punching the bags :-)

Here are my Harry Potter Wand results:
    9", Willow, Dragon
You scored 15 wisdom, 44 bravery, 36 emotional, and 16 martyrdom!
A willow wand signifies that you care deeply about emotions, art, and intuition, and that you have a particular knack for charms. Your dragon's heartstring core makes your wand very effective in hexes.

My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
You scored higher than 0% on wisdom
You scored higher than 97% on bravery
You scored higher than 92% on emotional
You scored higher than 4% on martyrdom

    I just realized that I haven't posted in a while...sorry!

We have been so busy with the dojo--check out the new pictures if you get the chance (lj: boulderquest). We had a photo shoot there on Saturday that was a lot of fun. There was a great killing shot of Kevin decapitating me with the foam sword and I'm in this matrix-like position but still dying. The photographer took over 800 photos. You can see examples of his work at bodyformworkshop.com. He has a great intuitive, energy sense that he brings to photography.

Otherwise, I am trying to get back in the swing of things. I ran tonight but I've only been running about 1x per week and hitting the gym 2x instead of 3x & 4x like I should. Since I'll be teaching Cardion beginning next week, I really need to get establish my own workouts.

I also read Harry Potter--holy geez!

And finally, if I make it to Weds. I'll have gone a full month without a migraine, which feels like a miracle. Whenever I feel one coming on, I drink about 24 ou of water and it's gone in the morning. It's the most amazing thing ever!

Kevin and I have decided to fast 1x/month, which we did for the first time this past Sunday. Fasting during the course of your daily life is much different than fasting in the wilderness. It seems that somehow you feel more nourished in the wilderness. Of course, we were also trying to do chores and we went to see the Fantastic Four (one review said "Well, it could've been worse" and I have to agree). It is very hard to not have popcorn and a slurpee (red and blue 'flavors' please). Come to think of it, I don't think they are called Slurpees anymore--I think they are Icees now.

    a new day
I just went back to the accupuncturist after a month and we've decided to go down to twice a month instead of every week. Interestingly, the area that still shows up is around the area of my solar plexus which was bruised during my solo. It was funny becasue he asked 'what's up with this area' and waved his hands over my torso but only in the region of the scraping and bruising.

I am so excited about the dojo! There is so much happening and every day it looks more and more like a dojo (not just a dream).

    a great day
I went hiking on Green Mountain today. Last year, I wasn't strong enough to summit but this year it was much easier! I dropped Kevin off way down for his run and then parked at Realization Point (Flagstaff) and hiked to the peak and met him at this trail juncture along the way. It was cool and I remebered a bunch of landmarks from last year. Since my wilderness solo my outdoor skills have really improved, and my confidence has improved too which really helps. Then we dropped Artemis at home and went to Rio Grande for lunch and then to "Now & Zen" to buy a clock for the dojo's meditation room. It has a nice Tibetan bell chime with regular interval or alarms. Check it out--http://www.now-zen.com/ we got the maple finish in the larger digital one. I also checked out some furniture at this reburbished place but I realize now that I need measurements. And I think we're going to the movies tonight if this windstorm that just kicked up doesn't blow down the house.

    Joy!

    lfe as I know it
Things are really moving quickly with the dojo and I'm buying the final pieces to start our retail store and our training space. I bought a couple of Wave Masters today for our cardio class and our art framing should be done soon. I feel like all the changes from the WY trip are finally settlin gin my body--they don't feel quite so fragile anymore. And I am still off the caffeine (2 weeks now) and I haven't had a migraine in over 1 week, which is pretty amazing for me.I also need to post an lj picture but it's sucha pain to resize to their specs. I just never get around to it--I wish they ahd an auto-converter kind of thing. Also, we just had lunch at Murphy's Grill which is a Murphy's Law-themed restaurant and its locally owned so when you visit Boulder, check them out!
